S.I. Yankees Annual School Fundraiser – PS373R School Night on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

We are having a S.I. Yankees School Fundraiser. Any student that sells even one ticket will be entered into a drawing to win from “Scooter’s Barnyard Treasure Chest”. It’s loaded with great items such as a Nintendo Wii, an iPod, and tons of Staten Island Yankee gear. If your child sells 45 tickets they will receive an unbelievable opportunity to learn from the pros in a one day baseball clinic with the Staten Island Yankees players! Sell 60 tickets and they will be invited with a guest to a private meet-and-greet with a current NY Yankees player! Last year, students had the opportunity to meet second baseman, Robinson Cano and receive an autographed photo. Lastly, the student who sells the most tickets in the program will visit the NY Yankees Spring Training that is held in sunny Tampa, Florida in March, 2013.

School Night Out. On our school’s primary night, all students and families will get to enjoy the game while sitting together as one large group, while together you will also have your school personally welcomed to the game on our huge video board in centerfield!

Ticket option: All-You-Can-Eat, Ballpark Meal Deal, Group Seats. Bringing a hungry crew? The All-You-Can-Eat option allows guests to enjoy all the hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, chips, soda, and water they would want at the game. Other options are included in the order form. BUT remember each ticket includes a limited edition S.I. Yankees Cap. All children under the age of 12 are invited to run the bases after the game.

To make attending a game as easy as possible, you can choose between your school night as well as three alternate dates. See order form. Feel free to mix and match any combination of games.

Our PS 373R Primary Night is on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. This will feature a spectacular post-game firework show. Please join us and the entire PS 373 family for an exciting night at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.

The final date to turn in the order form to your teacher is June 1, 2012. If you have any questions, please contact John DeLuca at 718-313-1336 or jdeluca@siyanks.com

If you need an extra order form, please contact Kirsten Rorke at 718-816-8897 press “1” then “3”

The City Speaks – Spring 2012 Issue of Parent Newsletter by D75 Speech-Language Providers

“May is Better Hearing and Speech Month (BHSM)”

The American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) has declared the month of May to celebrate better hearing and speech.  This is a great time to consult with your child’s speech and language    therapist. For additional information/ideas for “BHSM” go to http://www.asha.org/bhsm/

In this edition of, “The City Speaks” they will address Language and Literacy in the Community.

When you think of literacy you automatically think of reading books, newspapers or magazines. However, literacy goes way beyond that. Literacy includes the ability to use and understand symbols and signs represented in one’s community and culture. Recognizing everyday landmarks and signs such as the golden arches of McDonalds, a stop sign on the corner, or the various departments in a supermarket are all forms of literacy, even if your child can not read. Giving your child opportunities to interact in the community can be effective in developing their functional language and literacy skills.
