October’s Message From the President

I hope everyone is settling in well, adjusting to new teachers & having fun with old friends.

Our first meeting was a huge success, with lots of new faces & new ideas. We’re looking forward to our next meeting on Thursday, October 26th. We’ll also be holding SLT elections that day, so please try to make room in your schedule for one of our meetings that day.

Forgive me for jumping ahead, since we’re not even up to Hallloween yet, but I wanted to bring up a couple of plans for the holidays. We’re planning our first ever holiday fair, with shopping for kids, a visit from Santa, music and fun. We’ll be needing volunteers for that, so keep a look out for the date and please come and lend a hand if at all possible. I’d also like to propose a new idea: every year hundreds of kids mail letters to Santa and these letters are brought to the main post office in Manhattan, looking for a good elf to pick it up. I’ve done it for a couple of years, and I was thinking of getting one again, but I’d like to open it up to the entire PS 373 community: if anyone feels they could answer one of these letters & send a package to a needy child, please e-mail me at siri1@bellatlantic.net and I’ll be happy to get you one. It’s an easy way to share the holiday spirit, especially for those with older kids who can help.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to seeing everyone soon.
