On August 12, 2010, Acting Commissioner Chmura wrote to you about the Medicaid Service Coordination (MSC) changes that will start on October 1, 2010. Acting Commissioner Chmura’s letter and other information on MSC changes is located on our website at www.opwdd.ny.gov (see “MSC Redesign Information”). If you do not have access to the internet, you can ask for a copy of this information from your service coordinator.
I am writing this letter to let you know that on September 30. 2010 at 2:00 p.m. we will be conducting a special information session (via statewide videoconference) on the MSC changes. This special statewide videoconference is for people who receive MSC, parents, family members, and self-advocates. Registration for this special session is through OPWDD’s Training Catalog on our website: http://www.omr.state.ny.us/wp/wp_catalogz2403.jsp (title: “VC MSC Changes for People who Receive MSC and Family Members” Z2403V. Due to limited space, registration will be on a first come first serve basis. For your reference, we have attached a list of the sites that are currently scheduled for this videoconference.
During this session, we will talk about changes you may see as a person who participates in the MSC program. We will also answer questions you may have about the MSC program changes. We hope to be able to provide a better understanding of the MSC program changes for the people who receive MSC services. We also want to ensure that people understand their rights as a participant in the MSC program and that these rights are not changing. We also want people to know what to do if they are not happy with their service coordination services.
We hope you will join us for this very important information session on September 30, 2010.
Suzanne Zafonte Sennett, Deputy Commissioner, Division of Policy and Enterprise Solutions
