Dates for the Upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences

Here are the dates for the upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences:

PS 373 Main Site 91 Henderson Avenue: Wednesday evening, November 7th, from 6:30-9:00 p.m. and Thursday afternoon, November 8th, from 12:30 to 2:50 p.m.

PS373 @ Petrides “J” Building: Tuesday, November 13th AFTERNOON AND EVENING (Petrides kids go home early)

PS373 @ PS 58:  Tuesday, November 13th, AFTERNOON AND EVENING (PS 58’s kids go home early)

Your child’s teacher will send home a notice of Open School Week. You will be asked to sign up for a specific time to come in and meet with your child’s teacher. Here are some things that you can do to prepare for the conference:

*Talk to your child about how things are going in school. *Ask your child if he or she would like specific thoughts or concerns communicated to the teacher. * If you are concerned about your child’s work, keep copies of materials that illustrate your concerns and bring them to the meeting. *Think about what you can tell teachers that will help them understand your child better, i.e. favorite subjects, special interests or concerns. * Write down your own questions to each teacher/staff member.

“Model Me Kids” – Free Autism Documentary

Model Me Kids shot a documentary of a wonderful classroom of children with autism at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, MD. The children and their teacher welcomed the film crew warmly, and they were given a birdseye view of their unique experiences. They are happy to share this with you, and think that you will be as moved in watching the video as they were in making it.

VH1 Classic’s Rock Autism Campaign

 

VH1 Classic’s Rock Autism campaign is designed to help educate parents and build awareness about autism, a complex neurobiological developmental disorder that lasts throughout a person’s lifetime, and to raise funds for a variety of autism research, advocacy, and support organizations. Autism affects one in every 150 children, with a child diagnosed every 21 minutes. Today, there is no known cause or cure. VH1 Classic aims to galvanize a community of artists and fans in support of this cause.
