Message from the PS 373R PTA President, John Scarso – November 2008

Posted by pta373 on November 17, 2008

To all Parents, Staff and Members of the PS 373R family,

As we approach the holiday season, I wanted to update everyone on what is going on with the PTA and the school. We are in very challenging times with the economy, the DOE’s budget woes and a new administration coming to Washington.

First, let’s focus on the positive things going on. We are in the third month of Principal Goldstein-Hartnett’s administration and we have two new assistant principals to assist her. She and her staff have been working very hard to make our school the best that it can be.

On the PTA front, I want to thank my board members for the many hours put in to make our year a great success. I also want to send a special thanks to Kirsten Rorke, who with out her help, the PTA would not function as well as it does.

The cookie dough fundraiser is proving a great success and we expect to raise a sizable amount for the PTA’s planned programs. The holiday fair is 12/3 and 12/4 and we are still looking for volunteers to help out and to solicit donations from local merchants. We are having a food drive for Christmas and the current backpack giveaway has helped many of our students.

Our next PTA meeting is this Thursday at 9:30 at the PS 58 and we are looking forward to meeting new members as well as see those parents who have be generous with their time in the past.

Also, we are in need of a vice-president to assist us. Anyone interest can contact me at 718-986-8856.
